Expect Heavy Traffic on Via de la Valle from June 25 - July 5

Starting today through the Fourth of July holiday weekend, residents should anticipate heavy traffic along the Via de la Valle corridor as several major regional events take place simultaneously. The unusual combination of major youth soccer tournaments, the San Diego County Fair, local community events, and increased Fourth of July holiday travel is expected to create significant traffic delays throughout the area.

The City encourages residents to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and avoid the Via de la Valle corridor when possible. We appreciate your patience as our region welcomes thousands of visitors for these popular summer events.

Upcoming Events Expected to Impact Traffic:

• June 25 - July 2: Elite Clubs National League Boys National Playoffs at Surf Sports Park with games scheduled daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. As one of the largest youth soccer events of the summer, the tournament will bring hundreds of teams and thousands of players, coaches, and spectators to the area.
   
• Now - July 5: San Diego County Fair remains open through Sunday, July 5, from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM (closed Mondays and Tuesdays). Attendance is expected to increase during the final week, particularly on weekends and Fridays when children ages 12 and under receive free admission.
   
• July 2: Solana Beach 40th Anniversary Concert on the Beach at Fletcher Cove Beach from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The City's first-ever Concert on the Beach is expected to draw significantly larger crowds than the traditional Concerts at the Cove series.
   
• July 4: San Diego County Fair's Fireworks Spectacular begins at 9:00 PM. Traffic and parking impacts are expected throughout the day and evening.

• July 17: Del Mar Races Opening Day

• August 8: Solana Beach 40th Anniversary Beach Blanket Movie Night is the City's first-ever movie night held on the beach from 6:00-10:00 PM
