The City of Solana Beach celebrated National Public Works Week 2026 from May 17-23! Every year, the American Public Works Association dedicates the third week of May to recognizing the professionals who build and maintain the infrastructure of our communities. This year's theme is "Rooted in Service, Powered by Community", means that the work that this team does allows our community to thrive. Not all of the work that Public Works professionals do is visible. They clean the streets and repair our roads, but they also maintain water and sewer systems.
In the past year, our Public Works team has made some remarkable achievements:
118 trash receptacles serviced daily
49 miles of sewer system are maintained
800 streetlights are inspected on a daily basis
90 curb miles swept monthly
This is just a glimpse of the tireless efforts of our dedicated Public Works team.
In appreciation of our hardworking community members, the team enjoyed a special lunch celebration with tacos and cake.
Join us in recognizing the effort that our Public Works team puts in every day. If you see them around Solana Beach, say hello!
