In 2018, the City of Solana Beach implemented Solana Energy Alliance, which was San Diego County's first Community Choice Aggregation. Based on a feasibility study completed in April 2019, the cities of Carlsbad, Del Mar and Solana Beach partnered in November 2019 to form the Clean Energy Alliance (CEA), a new public entity that will operate a Community Choice Aggregation program to provide alternative energy resources within the communities’ service territories. Service to customers began overnight on May 1, 2021.
Since launching service 5 years ago, CEA has reduced greenhouse gas emissions by more than 746,000 metric tons of CO2, committed over $750 million to new renewable energy projects and launched eight customer programs. And, CEA continues to work towards its goal of providing 100% renewable energy by 2035, ahead of the statewide target.
Learn more about CEA's five-year milestones in their Impact Report! Here, they showcase their progress and discuss the path moving forward.
